About This Book

Fermo e Lucia non va considerato come una sorta di “laboratorio” dei Promessi Sposi (1840), bensì come un’opera autonoma, dotata di una sua struttura interna e in qualche modo autonomo dalle stesure successive. Alessandro Manzoni vi si dedicò in tempi alterni fra il 1821 e il 1823. Poi, dopo una versione intermedia del 1927 (la “ventisettana”), l’autore revisionò interamente il testo - soprattutto nel linguaggio (la cosiddetta «risciacquatura in Arno») - e diede vita al più famoso e più letto romanzo della letteratura italiana. In questa edizione, a parte la normalizzazione degli accenti e poco altro, il testo è riportato intatto come nell’originale.
