About This Book

Durch die Kandidatur von Kurt Waldheim wurde das Jahr 1986 zum Auftakt der intensiven Auseinandersetzung Österreichs mit seiner nationalsozialistischen Vergangenheit. Viele Argumentationsmuster wie PflichterfĂŒllung, oder auch erstes Opfer des Nationalsozialismus zu sein, hielten nicht mehr stand. Der Wandel in der Gedenkkultur Österreichs ist seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre im Entstehen und Bestehen von Gedenkinitiativen sichtbar geworden. Sowohl lokal als auch österreichweit beschĂ€f-tigen sich heute Organisationen und Gruppen mit der Geschichte der TĂ€ter und der Opfer des Zweiten Weltkrieges.
