About This Book

Eusebius von CĂ€sarea (ca. 265-340) ist der erste Autor, der den gesamten Psalter Vers fĂŒr Vers in einem zusammenhĂ€ngenden Kommentar auslegte. Das umfangreiche Werk bildete fĂŒr Jahrhunderte die wissenschaftliche Basis der Psalmenkommentierung. Es wird in der Reihe der "Griechischen Christlichen Schriftsteller" erstmals in drei BĂ€nden kritisch ediert. Zu Ps 101-150 sind nur mehr Fragmente in Katenen erhalten. Sie waren bisher unzulĂ€nglich und mit reichlich Fremdmaterial vermengt von B. Montfaucon (1706) und A. Mai (1847), nachgedruckt in den BĂ€nden 23 und 24 der Patrologia Graeca, sowie von J. B. Pitra (1883) herausgegeben worden. Der dritte Band wertet mit der sogenannten PalĂ€stinischen Katene (6. Jh.) und der Psalmenkatene des Niketas von Herakleia (spĂ€tes 11. Jh.) Überlieferungen aus, die in den alten Editionen unberĂŒcksichtigt geblieben waren. So bietet die vorliegende Sammlung gegenĂŒber den bekannten BruchstĂŒcken nicht nur einen fundierten kritischen Text, sondern erweitert ihn mit sehr vielen bislang unbekannten Partien.
